Essentials of IBM Rational ClearCase (RS501CE)
Length and Tuition: 2 days, $1,600
Audience: Developer
Essentials of Rational ClearCase for Windows is an instructor-led course that teaches developers how to perform common day-to-day tasks in Rational ClearCase. It focuses on teaching the concepts and skills developers need to successfully manage source code change in their development environments. This course provides basic training in ClearCase functionality for those who intend to take more advanced courses in the ClearCase curriculum.
Essentials of IBM Rational ClearCase for Windows with UCM (RS5201CE)
Length and Tuition: 1 day, $900
Skill Level: Basic
Audience: Developer
The Essentials of Rational ClearCase UCM for Windows course introduces the concepts of Rational ClearCase Unified Change Management (UCM), Rational's software development best practice that integrates artifact and activity management. Students will learn to use Rational ClearCase UCM and Rational ClearQuest to perform common, day-to-day software development tasks such as joining a project, checking out files from source control and checking in files to source control, merging your work with the work of others, updating your workspace, and working offline.
Essentials of IBM Rational ClearCase Remote Client
Length and Tuition: 1 day, $900
This course provides training in IBM Rational's new Eclipse based remote client for IBM Rational ClearCase 2003.06.13 and above versions. How to use the client, setup workspaces, and deliver and synchronize work to projects will be covered in detail.
Essentials of Configuration Management using IBM Rational ClearCase with UCM (RS401CE)
Length and Tuition: 2 days, $1,600
Unified Change Management (UCM), Rational Software Corporation's approach to managing change from requirements to release, defines a consistent process for managing change throughout the development life cycle. UCM is a key component of the Rational Unified Process (RUP), a comprehensive framework for delivering best software development practices.
Managing Software Projects with Rational ClearCase and Unified Change Management will teach the use of ClearCase in a UCM implementation. Students learn to manage software development projects from a UCM perspective. Project managers learn to create and configure new projects and set development and release policies that are automatically enforced by ClearCase. Integrators learn to use ClearCase UCM to integrate, build and configure the developed products for release.
Mastering Administration of IBM Rational ClearCase for Windows (RS601CE)
Length and Tuition: 2 days, $1,600
Rational ClearCase Administration is intended for experienced Rational ClearCase users and ClearCase administrators. In this two-day course, students build on the knowledge gained from the Rational ClearCase Fundamentals and the Applying Rational ClearCase Metadata courses. Students learn techniques to ease deployment and maintenance of a ClearCase implementation from initial project planning through configuration, installation, and ongoing administration.
Advanced API Development of IBM Rational ClearCase for Windows
Length and Tuition: 1 day, $900
This course is designed for Advanced administrators of IBM Rational ClearCase who wish to obtain more in-depth knowledge of automating ClearCase commands using the API and the ClearCase Perl Libraries. Attendees of this course will leave with a cookbook of practical ClearCase scripts and tools to help them manage thier environment.
Note: Knowledge of Perl, and VisualBasic would be of great assistance in this course.
Mastering Administration of IBM Rational ClearQuest
Length and Tuition: 3 days, $2,500
This course provides training for administering and customizing Rational ClearQuest. It examines planning and implementing defect and change request tracking processes, customizing Rational ClearQuest to facilitate these operations, and administering the ClearQuest system. This course is recommended for new Rational ClearQuest administrators or system architects who want to learn to manage the defect and change tracking process with Rational ClearQuest.
Administration Update IBM Rational ClearQuest 2003.06.15 (SP5)
Length and Tuition: 1 day, $900
This course provides an update to the RS631CE course, providing an update on new features introduced in SP4 and SP5, including new web server, and web clients, as well as new packages. This course is intended for those whose role is administering their existing ClearQuest environment.
Essentials of IBM Rational Requisite Pro
Length and Tuition: 1 day, $900
Users of Rational RequisitePro will benefit from taking this introductory course, which provides a basic familiarity with the RequisitePro product for creating and managing requirements that are used throughout the lifecycle of a project.
The course is a one-day workshop in setting up and using a project documentation and repository system for capturing and managing the changing requirements of a system using Rational RequisitePro. The course emphasizes how a managed approach to requirements management will contribute to project success.
This is a hands-on course with exercises and activities to help users apply Requirements Management concepts. The student gains a general understanding of how to use RequisitePro to manage project scope by understanding requirement attributes and using traceability. The student also learns to assess the impact of the changing requirements of a project. Principles of Functional Software Testing using IBM Rational TestManager (RT101CE)
Length and Tuition: 2 days, $1,600
Principles of Software Testing for Testers will make you a more informed software tester. The course provides an overview of some key practices that help make software testing successful within the general context of an iterative development lifecycle. Hands-on exercises reinforce the practices with concrete examples.
Using the structure provided by the Rational Unified Process (RUP), the course introduces the student to a number of testing practices that can be applied in various contexts. During the course, the student will be introduced to a range of practices including:
- Defining the mission of the test team
- Examining various testing types and techniques
- Analyzing and reporting defects effectively
- Assessing and reporting the extent of testing
Essentials of Rational Unified Process (RP401CE)
Length and Tuition: 2 days, $1,600
RP401CE is an introductory course to the Rational Unified Process (RUP). RUP is a knowledge base containing software engineering practices that represent many of the best practices observed in successful software development. This course provides an introduction to iterative development, as well as to the organization and content of this knowledge base. It emphasizes the main principles of iterative software development: phases and their objectives, and the mitigation of risks. Students are also introduced to RUP tailoring choices.
Upon completion of the course, participants will:
- Understand Rational's best practices for software development.
- Be familiar with the guidance RUP provides for iterative development.
- Be familiar with the structure and navigation facilities of RUP.
- Be introduced to the content of RUP and its application.
- Be introduced to RUP tailoring and implementation choices.
- Have simulated the use of RUP on a project.
