We recognise that gender equality is a crucial pillar for progress and essential to empowering women in society and the workplace.
The Adapt IT Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) team collaborated with one of our ESD partners ETS INNOVATIONS to champion the ‘Take A Girl Child To Work Day’ initiative. The team hosted the top 10 grade 12 female learners from Sizwe Senior Secondary School in Germiston at our Johannesburg Campus. The aim was to motivate and inspire them with an insightful look into the ICT working world and their potential future career opportunities.
The day started with breakfast followed by a campus tour. Thereafter, learners commenced their job shadowing experience paired with Adapt IT and ETS staff members. A 20-minute rotation period ensured all learners gained a full understanding of the various roles within the organisation. The day continued with a lunch sponsored by Adapt IT and ended with a motivational session where the students were encouraged by Zandile Mbele, Chairman of ETS, to pursue their careers and personal dreams. The girls also shared their expectations and experiences of the day – adding a personal touch to the event.
As a token of our appreciation, ETS and Adapt IT provided goody bags filled with memorable gifts for the girls to take home. Motivating students to invest in their studies through work-based exposure to different career opportunities is vital in supporting their growth and fostering a mindset where every young woman can realise her full potential.
We take this opportunity to thank all the learners for honouring us with their presence, to parents, educators and leadership team of Sizwe Senior Secondary School for giving us the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment and passion for education and women empowerment.
Sandra Machemba and Zandile Mbele your invaluable contribution and commitment to collectively achieve our long-term mission is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
